Fifteen self-catering chalets on the river 3 km outside Sabie on the Hazyview road, with private fire-pits and a forest walk to a waterfall
About the Property
Sabie Star Chalets is a self-catering stay of 15 chalets about 3 km from Sabie on the Hazyview road, rated 4.7 out of 5 on LekkeSlaap from 368 reviews, with location scored 4.8. Daphne and Johnny Botha started it in 1979, and Shawne and Sharon have run it since 2015. The chalets sleep 54 in all, in four types: two-sleepers for couples (no children under 17), four-sleepers, and two-bedroom chalets for up to six. Phabeni Gate into the Kruger National Park is 52 km away.
Every chalet has a kitchenette or full kitchen, DStv and its own fire-pit and braai, with free firewood every day. Bath towels are supplied and the chalets are serviced daily. If you would rather not cook in the morning, a full English or continental breakfast can be booked by 18:00 the evening before.
The grounds are the draw. A riverside walk follows the water, and a forest path leads to a waterfall on the property. One LekkeSlaap guest wrote that "Logan was great and shared a wealth of info about Sabie and the surrounding area", and added: "the walk to the waterfall is a must if you are in the mood to see waterfalls! Being able to swim under it was also something special!" Another found the staff "welcoming" with suggestions on what to do in town. There is also a pool near the boma, a children's play area with a trampoline, free Wi-Fi and secure parking.

"Great location, excellent accommodation! Sabie Star was fantastic! Logan was great and shared a wealth of info about Sabie and the surrounding area. The accommodations are very clean and well maintained. We were very comfortable during our stay; it was during the week, so it felt like we had the place to ourselves! The river running nearby is very relaxing, the riverside walk is fun, but the walk to the waterfall is a must if you are in the mood to see waterfalls! Being able to swim under it was also something special!"

"Lovely chalets with every conceivable amenity and beautiful decor. Sabie Star Chalets is a fairy cottage experience in a fairytale forest setting. The gentle babbling of the river lulls you to sleep and the mystical sun through the misty forest wakes you up in the morning. The town is just far enough away that you can experience the full glory of the stars without the light bothering you, and just close enough that you can visit one of the unique restaurants for a unique dining experience with a view."
