A 1914 castle-turned-boutique-hotel on a hill above Windhoek, a Relais & Chateaux member
About the Property
Hotel Heinitzburg occupies one of Windhoek's three hilltop castles, built in 1914 by architect Wilhelm Sander and sold in 1916 to Hans Bogislav Graf von Schwerin, who renamed it after his wife Margarete's maiden name, von Heynitz. It has since been converted into a boutique hotel and restaurant, and is a member of the Relais & Chateaux luxury hotel consortium.
The hotel has 16 elegant rooms, recently renovated, on Heinitzburg Street overlooking Windhoek. Dining is spread across several named venues on site — Leo's at the Castle, the Garden Terrace, the Wine Cellar and the Knight's Room — alongside a pool terrace and in-room massage service.
On TripAdvisor the hotel is rated 4 out of 5 from 498 traveller reviews, a consistent rating across recent snapshots of the listing.
