About the Property
Irene Country Hotel opened in 1998 with the aim of giving guests "an authentic farm experience in a modern elegant urban facility." What began as a small boutique property on Nellmapius Drive has grown into a 170-room hotel with a 5-star Tourism Grading Council of South Africa (TGCSA) rating, while keeping its countryside setting alongside the working dairy operation of the adjoining Irene Farm.
Guests can walk the estate's trails, fish the lake on a catch-and-release basis, or book into the on-site Camdeboo Day Spa. Three dining venues - the Lake House Restaurant, The Barn and the Lake House Lounge - cover everything from relaxed family meals to special-occasion dinners, while the estate's lakeside lawns and function rooms host weddings for up to 450 guests and conferences for groups of 8 to 200.
The hotel sits close to Rietvlei Nature Reserve, a 3,800-hectare reserve with more than 1,600 game animals, and to Jan Smuts Museum and the Centurion golf courses, making it a base for both business travellers and weekend visitors to the Irene and Centurion area south of Pretoria.
