Ivory Safari Lodge (Ivory Lodge), Hwange

Ivory Safari Lodge, also known as Ivory Lodge, sits in the Sikumi Forest Reserve, just outside Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe. It overlooks a private floodlit waterhole, with a sunken hide for watching wildlife up close. Guests describe elephants coming right up to the water. There are nine rooms: seven raised, thatched Tree Houses and two renovated, elevated Presidential Elephant Suites. The rooms have balconies overlooking the waterhole and en-suite showers. Beyond the rooms there is a tree-shaded pool, a thatched lounge, bar and dining area, and a firepit. The camp is fenced and solar-powered.

Access is straightforward. Expert Africa calls it one of the easiest Hwange safari lodges to reach by road from Victoria Falls or Bulawayo. The lodge is close to the Hwange airstrip and about 15 minutes from the national park's main gate. Stays are full board with activities, including morning and afternoon 4WD game drives, night drives and birdwatching. Dinner is at a communal table, and Expert Africa describes the meals as generous and varied.
