A beachfront lodge on Mozambique's Inhambane coast, a short stroll from Tofo Beach.
About the Property
Kumba Lodge sits at 101 Coconut Drive in Praia do Tofo, on the Inhambane Province coast, a short stroll from Tofo Beach. It was built in 2020–2021 by Adelline, a former law student turned chef, and Steven, an economist turned yoga instructor. The two met in Johannesburg. The lodge describes itself as a laid-back, family- and eco-friendly beach lodge focused on healthy, sustainable living.
The lodge has a beachfront infinity pool and an ocean-view restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. It uses local and seasonal ingredients and also has a coffee bar and cocktails. On the dunes overlooking the sea, a yoga shala hosts vinyasa and restorative classes. Accommodation is in five room types, from the Garden Room to the Family Ocean Bungalow. Children of all ages are welcome.
Kumba Lodge also works as a base for Tofo's ocean-and-culture offering. Its Experiences page lists whale shark snorkelling, diving, dhow trips to Pansy Island and Survivor Island, and low-tide seahorse walks. It also lists pottery-making with local artisans at Libumba Pottery and a matapa cooking class at the Tofo Life Village.
