Stilted canvas-roofed chalets beneath the granite peaks of Spitzkoppe, in Namibia's Erongo region
About the Property
Spitzkoppen Lodge sits at Spitzkoppe in Namibia's Erongo region, between Usakos and Swakopmund. The nearest town and hospital are in Usakos, about 50 km away. Access is self-drive only, roughly 3 hours from Swakopmund and 4.5 hours from Windhoek.
The 15 freestanding chalets are raised on stilts and have canvas roofs. Each sleeps two and has an en-suite bathroom, a mosquito net, a ceiling fan, an in-room safe, tea and coffee facilities and a private viewing deck. For families, two chalets are linked by a walkway, each with its own bathroom and deck. The central lodge has a restaurant, bar, lounge and terrace with 360-degree mountain views. Sundowner platters are served on an elevated deck, and there is a swimming pool with views over the plains.
The area is known for its granite rock formations and Bushman (San) rock art sites. The lodge offers guided morning and afternoon walks to places such as Bushman's Paradise and the Golden Snake. It also arranges 4WD and sunset drives, cycling tours, mountain hikes and climbing, and has self-guided trails with maps. Guests staying two nights or more get a tour to Bushman's Paradise, Zebra Pool, Rock Arch and The Golden Painting, with lunch on the second day. The lodge is not suitable for children under 6, and the pool is unfenced.
