Tabonina Guesthouse, Livingstone

Tabonina Guesthouse opened in 2000 and welcomes both local and international guests. It stands at 3 Maisoko Street in Nottie Broad, a suburb of Livingstone, about 1.2 miles from the town centre. The guesthouse's own site puts Victoria Falls about 7.5 miles away, which makes it a practical base for visiting the Zambian side.

The house has nine en-suite rooms: four doubles, two twins, two family rooms and one family suite. Most rooms have air-conditioning (the thatched chalet does not). Rooms also come with tea and coffee facilities and mosquito nets. Outside there is a swimming pool in a mango-tree garden, a gazebo for drinks and games, a bar, a billiards room, a sun terrace and a barbecue. Indoors there are two sitting rooms, one with a large flat-screen TV, and a breakfast and dinner area.

Free private parking and WiFi are included. The airport is about 15 minutes away, and the guesthouse lists a taxi fare of around $10 from there. From the bus station a taxi costs about $3 to $4. The owners also run a sister property, Tabonina BIS, on Tukulusho Avenue.
