Four stilted safari tents beside a lagoon on the Shishamba River in central Kafue National Park
About the Property
Fig Tree Bush Camp is the small, remote sister camp of Mukambi Safari Lodge, in central Kafue National Park, Zambia. Kafue is Zambia's oldest and largest national park. The camp is named after the giant fig tree it stands under, on the banks of the Shishamba River. In front of it is a lagoon that holds water all year.
There are only four en-suite safari tents, two twin and two king-size double. Each stands on a 3 m high platform with a veranda that looks over the lagoon at the front and the plains behind. Each also has an open-air bathroom with a shower, basin and flushing toilet behind a reed screen. The camp sleeps a maximum of eight guests. The boma under the fig tree has a firepit. There is also an open-plan lounge and dining area under a canvas roof, an infinity pool and a sandy lagoon beach with hammocks.
This is a fully catered camp, not self-catering. The rate covers meals from a three-choice set menu, two activities a day and the bar. Activities include guided game drives and walking safaris with expert trackers. You can also spend a night sleeping outdoors on the star bed. The lagoon draws elephant, hippo, lion, leopard, puku and zebra among other wildlife. The camp is open from 1 May to 30 November. It is reached by road from Lusaka via Mukambi Safari Lodge, or by charter flight to Chunga Airstrip.
