About the Property

Bushveld Cottages on the Magaliesberg's Slopes

Milorho Lodge is a group of five self-catering cottages in indigenous woodland on the northern slopes of the Magaliesberg, on Farm Rietfontein on the Rustenburg side of the range. It is rated 4.7 out of 5 on LekkeSlaap from 113 reviews, with cleanliness, service and safety each scored 4.8. Three cottages sleep two and are for adults only (17 and over). The other two, Red Ivory and Wild Olive, have three bedrooms and two bathrooms and sleep a family of six. Pretoria is about 1 hour 15 minutes' drive away and Johannesburg about 1 hour 45 minutes.

Every cottage has a full kitchen with a stove, oven, microwave and fridge, plus its own braai, and some have a fireplace. This is a self-catering stay, so stock up in Rustenburg before you arrive. Natural rock pools lie within about 100 m of the cottages. The property covers more than 600 hectares of mountain bushveld, which suits birders, botanists and nature lovers, and there is a sculpture park with hand-crafted wood designs. The lodge has its own hiking trails, but check with the lodge that they are open before you plan around them. Music and radios are not allowed, which keeps the place quiet.

That quiet is what guests on LekkeSlaap write about. One called it "Quiet, beautiful nature and spotlessly clean unit". Another wrote: "Great weekend away! Really enjoyed our stay, rock pools are amazing, chalets very well equipped". AfriCamps also runs glamping tents on the same farm, booked separately. Wi-Fi and secure parking are free, the cottages are non-smoking, pets are not allowed, and the road in includes a gravel section.

✓ 4.7/5 on LekkeSlaap from 113 reviews ✓ Natural rock pools about 100 m from the cottages ✓ Full kitchen and private braai at every cottage
