📍 Kafue National Park · Central Province · Zambia
A riverside gateway lodge to Kafue National Park, with sister bush camps on the Busanga Plains and in the miombo.
About the Property
Mukambi Safari Lodge has run on the bank of the Kafue River since 1994, and is one of the main road-accessible gateways into Kafue National Park, Zambia's largest. From the main lodge, two sister camps extend the experience: Fig Tree Bush Camp, opened in 2015 in miombo woodland with its own lagoons, and Busanga Plains Camp, opened in 2008 on the seasonally flooded Busanga Plains in the park's north.
The lodge runs entirely on solar power with eco-friendly battery storage, grows vegetables in its own garden, and offers massage treatments and 'star bed' sleep-outs at the Busanga Plains and Fig Tree camps.
Because Mukambi is reachable by a roughly 5-hour, 270km drive from Lusaka on a 2x4-friendly road, it is one of the more accessible ways into Kafue, without needing a light-aircraft charter (though charters, at around 1h15-1h45 from Lusaka, are also available).
